(Original Article) Achievement of Special Project on Specific Capacity in Management (4+1 Project) Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Program, Mahidol University

This research aimed to examine the outcomes of the “Achievement of Special Project on Specific Capacity in Management (4+1 Project)” Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Program, Mahidol University, focusing on employment status, skills utilization, expectations, satisfaction, and challenges. A survey was conducted among 40 graduates of the program. Findings revealed that 87.5% of respondents successfully completed the program, pursuing diverse career paths including medical technologists, sales/marketing professionals, data analysts, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Graduates primarily utilized teamwork, communication, marketing management, and analytical skills (all ≥ 65%), while medical technology professional skills were less commonly applied (30%). Participants reported high satisfaction, particularly with active learning and real-world applications. Although a statistically significant difference in expectations before and after enrollment was not found (p = 0.082), graduates perceived gains exceeding their initial expectations in areas like management and sales expertise. Key challenges included a disconnect between academic content and practical hospital work, insufficient career guidance, and concerns regarding program duration. The study suggests improvements in career counseling, better integration of practical work skills, and enhanced professional networking opportunities. These findings are valuable for developing and refining integrated degree programs to better align with student needs and labor market demands.
