Development of an infectious waste management model of Nonnamthaeng Sub-district Administrative Organization, Mueang District, Amnat Charoen Province

Abstract

The purpose of this action research is to develop an infectious waste management model in the local administration organization of Nonnamtang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang District, Amnat Charoen Province. The target group involved in the development includes the head of the sub-district administration organization, local experts or responsible personnel at the sub-district level, and members of the sub-district council, totaling 30 people. The research used the Kemmis & McTaggart (PAOR) process with 3 cycles, each consisting of 4 steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis involves data collection, categorization, content analysis, and evaluation of the model's results. Statistical analysis using the Paired t-test compares the average scores before and after implementing the model. The study results revealed that after the intervention, knowledge, attitudes, organizational waste management practices, organizational relationships, participation in the work, and infectious waste management behaviors improved significantly. The model of infectious waste management of Nonnamtang Sub-district Administrative Organization consists of 1) Knowledge development for stakeholders, 2) Supervision by a sub-committee, 3) Planning and inclusion in the annual budget plan, and 4) Continuous performance review. The success factors include creating appropriate knowledge and attitudes, promoting participation, and developing an organizational atmosphere. This model can be applied in managing infectious waste by other sub-district administrations or in different areas to ensure appropriate responses to new or recurring infectious diseases.
