Development of the familyûs relationship questionnaire among Thai family

Objective To develop the familyûs relationship questionnaire among Thai family.
Materials and methods The study was done during August-December 2010. The study composed of 2 steps as follow. The first step, content validity was examined bythe experts who met 2 times, and the discrimination indices were analyzed by t-test statistical. The second step, construct validity was study through the known group technique for 2 times, and the validity was analyzed by Cronbachûs alpha coeffieiency.
Results The instrument was a rating scale questionnaire and composed of 23 items. The questionnaire comprised of 4 domains namely; care, respect and empathy, communication
among the members in family, join activities together among the members in family, and rate response among the member in family. The discrimination indices of each item have been highly significant. The internal consistency of this questionnaire was calculated by the Cronbachûs alpha coefficient and the entire assessment scale was 0.92. The construct validity of the entire assessment scale tested by the known-group technique, and the questionnaire had highly significant.
Conclusion The familyûs relationship questionnaire is a reliable instrument for measuring the relationship in Thai family. The questionnaire should be developed to be the standard questionnaire, and the survey research should be used to find out the norm and cut-off scores in Thai people.
