Factors determined abuse of demented elderly by carers in community population

Objective This literature review aimed to summarize the main factors determined abuse of demented elderly by carers in community population.
Materials and methods Keying words “abuse, care-giver, dementia elderly” into PubMed search engine, we retrieved the article from 1995-2010 and found 133 related pieces and 19 linked
articles from the page of PubMed. From Google Advance search engine for Thai article by the same key words in Thais, we found 1 Thai pieces with clear content and be reachable only 38 full papers.
Results The main 2 factors determined abuse of demented elderly by carers in community population were mental health problems in care giver and bond between care-giver-demented elderly
and elderly misbehaviors eg. psychosis, aggression, catastrophic reaction, depression and sleep problem.
Conclusion These results illuminated the factors determined abuse of demented elderly by carers in community population. They might be useful in abuse preventive intervention plan
