Objective: To study the prevalence and risk factors of non-suicidal self-harm behavior among Thai-university nursing students in the past 12 months.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 141 nursing students. We performed online data collection by using the Self-harm inventory (Thai-version) and the Stressful life event questionnaires. We analyzed data using descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression analyses with enter method.
Results: The prevalence of non-suicidal self-harm behavior among nursing students in the past 12 months was 31.9% (95% CI = 24.8 - 40.4). Risk factors of non-suicidal self-harm behavior in the past 12 month was experience of financial problems (OR = 4.60, 95% CI = 1.16 - 13.15).
Conclusion: Approximately one-third of nursing students reported self-harm behavior, which was associated with experience of financial problems. However, self-reporting could have introduced social desirability bias.
