Factors associated with Unsafe Sex Behaviors among Vocational College Students age 15-24 in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional analytical study aimed to describe associated factors with an unsafe sex behavior among vocational college students aged 15-24 in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. 160 from total 340 people were selected by a systematic randomly sampling method to response with a structured questionnaire that was validated by 3 experts and had a high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient = 0.80). Descriptive statistics were used percentage, average, standard deviation, minimum. Inferential statistics used multiple logistic regression to evaluate factors associated with pregnancy risk behaviors of vocational students, AOR were presented at a confidence interval of 95% CI.

The findings revealed that more than half of the samples were female. (64.74%) The prevalence of sexual intercourse among vocational students was 47.76%. Risk behavior and risk factors that take the possibility of sexual intercourse presented at a moderate. Knowledge of sexual intercross level 3.14 times higher than low to moderate knowledge level (AOR = 2.68; 95% CI 1.40 to 7.06 p-value = 0.006) and had been being influenced by griend at a moderate to high level, accounting for 2.51 times greater than at a low level. (AOR = 2.17; 95% CI 1.29 to 4.89 p-value = 0.007)
