Factors Related to Compliance with Fresh Market Standard Criteria of Vendors at Maesoon Sub-District, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province

The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive research was to examine factors related to compliance with fresh market standard criteria of the vendors at Maesoon sub-district, Fang district, Chiangmai province. The samples were 255 vendors selected by simple random sampling. Questionnaires were used for data collection during 1st June - 15th July 2023. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test and Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.
The results showed that the vendors’ compliance with fresh market standard criteria indicated as at a high level of 65.49%; followed by a moderate level of 32.16% and at a low level of 2.35%. The statistically significant (p-value < 0.05) related factors to the vendors’ compliance with fresh market standard criteria included knowledge on compliance with fresh market standard criteria and personal factors namely age, education, income and trading time.
The results suggest that the responsible agencies should increase trading venue policies by enhancing motivation, provide knowledge for fresh market vendors on how to comply with fresh market standard criteria and supervise fresh market traders in terms of discipline and cleanliness in trading.
