Impact of Eating Habits on Academic Achievement of University Students

Abstract

The objective of the study of Impact of Eating Habits on Academic Achievement of University Students were to examine the eating habits among students and the correlation between eating habits and academic achievements. A cross sectional study was conducted in 135 1st year students in Sirindhorn college of Public Health KhonKaen province Thailand during the year 2018. The Questionnaire about student eating habits and academic achievements in the classroom were used to collecting the data.   Results were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s Correlation.

The finding found that 66.7 of students were breakfast skippers and the main reason 52.6 % was shortage of times to have breakfast. The eating habits were 48.1 % consumed milk as breakfast 1or 2 a week, 57.8 % never drink tea or coffee. The main food that consumed in breakfast were 59.3 % rice, 46.7 % meat, 31.9% fruits and 23.0 % Vegetables. There is no association between eating habits and academic achievements found.
