Polypharmacy Use Behavior and Factors Associated with The Use of Polypharmacy Among People in Puey Yai Sub-District, Non Sila District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

          The purpose of this cross–sectional descriptive research was to study behavior knowledge The right attitude about Polypharmacy and factors associated with the using of Polypharmacy among people in Puey Yai sub-district Non Sila district Khon Kaen province. 307 samples who lived in Puey Yai sub-district aged 30 years up were sampling through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the questionnaires consisting. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis such as frequency, percentage, 95% confidence interval Chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test for statistically significant and presented OR, 95% confidence interval.

           The results showed that, 55.4% of the samples had Polypharmacy use behavior, 57.0% had knowledge at high level, and 60.3% had moderatelevel of attitude. As for the relation among the factors and Polypharmacy use behavior, the results revealed that were occupation (OR: 3.12, 95% Cl : 1.43 to 6.84 ; p-value  = 0.029) diabetes (OR: 2.19, 95% Cl : 1.05 to 4.55 ; p-value = 0.033 knowledge (OR: 2.27, 95% Cl : 1.00 to 5.12 ;p-value = 0.003 and attitude (OR: 3.86, 95% Cl : 2.37 to 6.29 ; p-value <0.001) related to Polypharmacy use behavior with statistical significance.
