The development of medical management system In nursing department of Faorai Hospital

Abstract

The aims of this participation action research were to study the operation and development of the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription system, evolution of efficiency of the pharmaceuticals and non-prescription system in nursing department of Faorai hospital and health promoting hospitals of Faorai hospital networks. Participants were 70 persons with purposive sampling, including the directors and staff of health promoting hospitals in Faorai district and a head and staff of nursing department in Faorai hospital. Data were collected from October 2017 to April 2018 by structured questionnaires, group discussions and related documents. Quantitative data were to acquire percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum, and using paired sample t-test to determine the mean score difference of knowledge satisfaction and action. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. The findings revealed that the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription system consisted of five steps: Studying the context of the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription system; Organizing the operation of the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription system workshop for the directors and staff of health promoting hospital, a head and staff of nursing department in Faorai hospital; Following up the project activities; Working and observing the operation; and summarizing the problems and obstacles of the operation and plan to solve the problems in the next round. The procurement was able to follow the year plan and had clear responsibility of staff. The new system of the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription, could reduce the problems of drug storage, reduced the medical supplies expired and deteriorate, made clarification of flow-chard of the pharmaceuticals, non-prescription system. In addition, the new system can help to complete the reports and documents of procurement in the right time and regulation. It is suggested that the staff of Faorai hospital and health promoting hospitals of Faorai hospital networks should reflect the operations using after-action review (AAR) and lesson learned techniques to keep the results updated throughout the cycle.
