The Effect of Nasal Irrigation Tracking Using LINE Application on Nasal Irrigation Skills and Satisfaction with Nasal Irrigation in Patients with Nasal and Sinus Disorders

Introduction: LINE applications are effective channels for communication and follow-up care, allowing diverse interactions such as messaging, data sharing, and video calls.
Research objectives: This study aims to compare the nasal irrigation skills and study satisfaction levels of patients with rhinitis and sinusitis before and after receiving education via line application.
Research methodology: This was a mixed method research conducted with a sample of 30 patients at Ramathibodi Hospital. Participants learned nasal irrigation techniques through demonstration videos and were required to submit a video of their own practice for evaluation within one week. The research instruments included skill and satisfaction assessment forms. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon signed ranks test and descriptive content analysis.
Results: After the experiment, the sample group’s mean nasal irrigation skill score (pretest M = 12.56, SD = 1.65; posttest M = 23.90, SD = .40) was significantly higher than before the experiment at a statistical significance level of .05. Post-experiment satisfaction scores were significantly higher than pre-experiment scores across all categories at a statistical significance level of .05.
Conclusions: Following up via online applications, there is a correlation with an increase in skill scores and satisfaction with nasal irrigation.
Implications: This technology should be promoted as a channel for providing consultation and monitoring self-care to enhance long-term health outcomes for patients.
