The Effective of Using Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline for Sepsis Patients in Emergency Department, Kongkrailat Hospital, Sukhothai Province

Introduction: A clinical nursing practice guideline (CNPG) for sepsis patients has been established to enhance patient safety and improve care efficacy.
Research objectives: To develop and examine of CNPG for sepsis patients in the emergency department of Kongkrailat Hospital, Sukhothai.
Research methodology: This action research was conducted in four phases: 1) Planning, 2) Action, 3) Follow - up, and 4) Reflection. A purposive sampling method was used to select two groups of 30 participants each: a comparison group and an experimental group. The study utilized the CNPG, patient management record form and a nurse satisfaction questionnaire as instruments. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and percentage change calculations.
Results: The CNPG included 1) Patient screening (Triage), 2) Emergency Care, and 3) Coordinate for hospital admission. The implementation of the CNPG led to a 60% reduction in mortality rates and a decrease in sepsis - related complications. The referral rate decreased by 21.43% within the first hour of admission, and registered nurses reported high satisfaction with the guideline (M = 4.64, SD = .49).
Conclusions: The CNPG for sepsis patients in emergency department effectively enhanced patient outcomes and increased nurse satisfaction.
Implications: The guideline can serve as a model for implementation in other emergency departments.
