Factors Association with Health Status in Elderly after COVID-19 Pandemic at Yothi Medical Innovation District, Bangkok

Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic posed a significant challenge, affecting both the medical system and public health services. The elderly experienced adverse impacts on their health status, compounded by a lack of continuous care.

Research objectives: To determine the association between factors and the health status of the elderly after the COVID-19 pandemic at the Yothi Medical Innovation District, Bangkok.

Research methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 306 subjects aged 60 and over in five communities at the Yothi Medical Innovation District, Bangkok. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics and the Chi-Square test.

Results: Factors significantly associated with the health status of the elderly included livelihood aspects such as health behavior ( gif.latex?x^{2}= 7.82, p-value < 0.05) and family relationships ( gif.latex?x^{2} = 4.05, p-value < .05).

Conclusion: The health status of the elderly in Yothi Medical Innovation District predominantly falls within the category of good level. Livelihood factors, particularly health behavior and familial relationships, demonstrated a significant association with the health status of the elderly.

Implications: Related practices should include home visits and ongoing health promotion activities addressing physical, mental, and health education. These efforts aim to prevent and rehabilitate diseases in the elderly, alleviating symptoms. Moreover, ensuring safe and suitable housing sanitation is crucial for the well-being of elderly residents.
