A Path Analysis of Mental Health Factors Affecting to Emotional Quotient of Students Faculty of Nursing Kasem Bundit University in Academic year 2023

Introduction: The Nursing Council and The Nurses Association of Thailand in the year 1985 set the standards and norms for ensuring that the nursing profession is held to the higher standards. However, there are many key factors affecting nurses' professional proficiency. Mental health is one of them which is brought to this study.
Research Objective: This study aims to investigate the factors that affect the emotional intelligence of nursing students at Kasem Bundit University focusing on mental health factors.
Research Methodology: This applied research utilized a stratified sampling to select a sample of 176 nursing students at Kasem Bundit University who were studying in the academic year 2023. Data was collected by questionnaire with a 5-Likert Scale based on Best's concept. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling Method (PLS-SEM).
Results: The resilience quotient had a direct effect on the emotional intelligence of individuals statistically significant at the .05 level. In addition, the COVID-19 mental health impact had no direct effect on the emotional intelligence. The indirect effect of the stress found that the stress was not correlation with the resilience quotient and the emotional intelligence. The resilience quotient had a direct effect on the stress statistically significant at the .05 level, and the stress had no direct effect on emotional intelligence. The stress was not correlation with the COVID-19 mental health impact and the emotional intelligence. The COVID-19 mental health impact had a direct effect on the stress statistically significant at the .05 level.
Conclusion: The resilience quotient had a direct effect on the emotional intelligence of individuals and the stress statistically significant at the .05 level.
Implications: The Academic Affairs Office should consider organizing activities to promote the resilience quotient and the stress management for nursing students to help them adapt to their roles and studies.
