The Synthesized of Care Models to Control Blood Sugar Levels in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes in Thailand
Keywords:
care model, type 2 diabetes, blood sugar controlAbstract
Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic disease that is common in adults and the elderly. High blood sugar levels can lead to complications in various organs and systems of the body, leading to severe and life-threatening conditions. Controlling blood sugar levels to within normal limits is crucial for reducing the risk of these complications.
Research Objectives: To synthesize a care model for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes in Thailand.
Research Methodology: This study was a research document related to the care of patients with type 2 diabetes in Thailand. Articles published between 2012 and 2021 were searched from academic journal databases. A total of 52 articles were analyzed using statistical analysis and content analysis.
Results: The care model for controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes in Thailand was divided into two groups: 1) self-management promotion programs and 2) specific care methods, mostly using self-management frameworks (42.30%). The outcomes were measured by checking the accumulated blood sugar levels and measuring health indices, knowledge, behavior, and quality of life (30.77%). The results showed no difference in blood sugar levels between the intervention and control groups (26.92%).
Conclusions: The findings of this study demonstrate the importance of controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes and focus on encouraging patients with diabetes to self-manage. However, some studies have found that the form of care does not cause changes in blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Implications: A meta-analysis should be conducted to analyze and synthesize care models for controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, and further research in foreign countries should be conducted.
