Introduction: The prioritization of community diagnosis is a crucial step to identify community health. There is a lack of knowledge and understanding of nursing students. Moreover, there is no video media to enhance understanding. Thus, the development of video media is necessary for a better understanding of students
Research objective: To develop and evaluate effects of video lesson on the prioritization of community problems by civil society.
Research methodology: A research and development method was used to develop a video media based on ADDIE Model. This research conducted in April 2019 - December 2020 to 143 third year of nursing students. Research instruments included 1) video lesson, 2) knowledge test, and 3) satisfaction test towards video lesson. The quality of video lesson was assessed for content validity. The Index of Item Objective Congruence (IOC) test and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient test were 1.00 and 0.88, respectively. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistic and paired t-test.
Results: The efficiency of the video lesson at 81.65/89.30 (E1/E2). The posttest scores of knowledges using the video lesson (M=18.65, SD = 1.96) was significantly higher than pretest (M = 16.25, SD = 1.31) at level .001. The satisfaction of video lesson was very high (M=4.78, SD=0.39).
Conclusion: The video lesson on the prioritization of community problems by civil society is effective for improving knowledge and understanding, and satisfaction of nursing students.
Implications: Instructors can use a video media as a tool to enhance understanding of the prioritization of community problems in nursing students.
