THE FACTOR EFFECTING A PASS OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY LICENSURE EXAMINATION AT BOROMMARAJONANI COLLEGE OF NURSING, BANGKOK

This descriptive study aimed to investigate factors (personal, family, and college’s environmental factors) influencing a pass of nursing and midwifery licensure examination at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Bangkok. Data were collected in 119 nurses using a set of self-reported questionnaires. Research instruments were tested for content validity (IOC=.66-1.00) by 3 panels of experts. Reliability of a motivation questionnaire, relationships with parents questionnaire, physical-education questionnaire, quality of teaching questionnaire, and relationships with friends questionnaire were .75, .80, .78, .77 and .79, respectively. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and Binary Logistic statistics.
Result revealed that the personal factors (the 3th–year cumulative grade point average (GPA), 4 th -year GPA, graduated GPA, and achievement motivation), and family factor (family status) were statistically significant related to a pass of all eight subjects of the nursing and midwifery licensure examination (p<.05). Also, only the 4th–year cumulative GPA statistically significant influenced a pass of all eight subjects of the nursing and midwifery licensure examination in the first round (p<.05), suggesting that the 4th-year cumulative GPA increases for 1 unit, a pass of nursing and midwifery licensure examination in the first round will increase for 1.5 times.
