New Options for Health Promotion Planning in the Community: MATCH Model

Introduction: Health promotion planning model is a blueprint which has been systematically and creatively designed based on the concepts of behavioral science theory and evidence-based data for optimal purposes.
Objective: The purpose of this article was to provide a concept and to apply the Multiple Approach Toward Community Health (MATCH) model in community health promotion planning.
Key issues: MATCH model is a logical model for planning and designing health promotion programs. The model concerns ecological fundamental health promotion and its causal factors in different levels including: individual level, interpersonal level, organization level, community level, and societal level. The five fundamental phases of MATCH model are: 1) selection of health and behavior goals; 2) intervention planning; 3) program development; 4) implementation planning; and 5) evaluation. The result was a ready-to-use template created for promoting health behaviors discovered on different targets and community contexts.
Conclusion: MATCH model is a tool for planning and designing health promotion which can be utilized for maximum benefit under specific problem, target, and context. Ultimately, the target groups who receive benefits from the program would achieve desirable health behaviors and leading to a good health
Implications: The proposed model can be further developed under research process or applied in communities with similar contexts and health problems.
