Abstract

     This research is part of the study health promotion behaviors and factors predicting health promoting behaviors in elderly people. The purposes of this research were to examine health promotion behaviors and factors related to health promoting behaviors in elderly people a case
study in a crowded community, Bangkok. The sample of 87 elderly people aged 60 years and over living in Banbab Village, Sathorn District, Bangkok. The research instruments were questionnaires that consisted of the health promotion behaviors and the factors related to health promoting behaviors. Content validity was performed by 3 experts and ensures the reliability of .742 and .743. Descriptive statistics and Spearman rank correlation coefficient were employed to analyze the data.
     The result of the study revealed that the most participants had good overall health promotion behavior (Mean = 3.15, SD. = 0.27) and found that perceived benefits of action (rs= .588, p<.001) perceived self-efficacy (rs= .547, p< .001) and interpersonal influences (r= .569, p< .001) related to
health promotion behaviors of the elderly in crowded communities
