The Innovation of JVP

The innovation of JVP meter aimed to develop of nursing innovation. The purposes of this study were to develop an instrument to examine jugular venous pressure and to investigate the satisfaction of registered nurses toward the use of the JVP meter. The development of the JVP meter was divided into two main steps. The first step was to develop the JVP meter in accordance with PDCA cycle: 1) plan and study concept and related studies; 2) do; 3) check; and 4) act by evaluating and reporting results and suggestions as a guideline for further study. The second step was to investigate the satisfaction of registered nurses toward the use of the JVP meter. The samples were selected using purposive sampling which consisted of 2 registered nurses who working at the Heart Failure Clinic, Sakon Nakhon Hospital over 10 years, and 30 patients with heart failure. The data were analyzed by using inter-rater reliability: IRR, content analysis, mean, standard deviation (SD.), frequency, and percentage.
The results of the study were as follows: 1) the inter-rater reliability: IRR was “Very Good” (K ≥0.96; p= 0.01) and 2) the overall satisfaction of using the JVP meter was “High” (Mean = 4.29, SD = 0.38). In particularly, the strength and durability aspect and reasonable price and production cost aspect was at a “Highest” level of satisfaction.
