Quality of Work Life and Organizational Commitment of the Personnel Officers in Bureau of Vector Borne Disease

Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study level of the quality of work life and organizational commitment of the personnel officers in Bureau of Vector Borne Disease 2) to examine the relationship of quality of work life and organizational commitment. The populations were 64 staff of Bureau of Vector Borne Disease. The instrument used to collect the data was questionnaire. Statistical methods used for this study were frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient. The results of the study were the staff had overall quality of work life at moderate level,
organizational commitment at high level. The relationship between quality of work life and the staff’s commitment showed a positive statistically significant correlation at p-value < 0.001, which is considered very high (r=0.774). However, there was no correlation found between a personal capacity development and capacity utilization and organizational commitment.
The results of this research show that quality of work life correlates with organizational commitment. Therefore, top management should improve the quality of work life in various aspects which have low and medium levels to high level in order to increase employee engagement such as adequate and fair compensation. Personnel should be allowed to manage and plan their work performance with direct supervisors prior to evaluating salary increases. Supervisors should communicate with personnel staff about their career growth in order to give personnel the confidence to work with the organization.
