Review of the Present Recommendation for Eye Drop Instillation Technique
Main Article Content
Abstract
Eye drop is the basic treatment for eyes diseases which must be used with an accurate instillation technique. According to literature review, the current techniques recommended by several national organizations within or outside Thailand can be used to improve eye drops instillation method, such as the handling of bottle cap after opening, eye degree adjustment during instillation, and preparation of eyes before administration. The present empirical evidences suggested that using aids for eye drops administration might not always lead to effective instillation of eye drop. Preparation of eye before administration by gently pulling lower lid down to form a pocket for the drop is the crucial step which must be recommended to every patient whether the aids are used or not.
