Prevalence and risk factors of GDM at Lampang Hospital

Abstract
This cross sectional study was desinged to determine prevalence and risk factors of GDM at
Lampang Hospital. It was a retrospective study which collected data from October 1, 2003 to
September 30, 2006. Pregnant women who were classified as potential GDM ine this period had
50 gm. glucose screening test performed. Prenant women with abnormal glucose screening test
were porceeded to 100 gm. OGTT. GDM was giagnosed if a pregnant woman had 2 or mor abnormal
values of OGTT by National diabetic data group criteria. The prevalence of GDM was 4.8 %. Two
significant risk factors of GDM were obesity and previous GDM. Pregnant women with more than
one risk factor had more chance of dcveloping GDM than those who had only one risk factor.
