บทคัดย่อ
การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเข้าใจโลกาภิวัฒน์และประชาคมเศราฐกิจอาเซียนในความเป็นจริงของหมอพื้นบ้านในจังหวัดสุรินทร์โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ ที่เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพผ่านทางวิธีการสัมภาษณ์ในเชิงลึก,ประสบการณ์ของผู้วิจัยเองที่ทำงานกับพื้นที่วิจัยและการสนทนากลุ่ม ซึ่งผู้ให้ข้อมูลเป็นหมอพื้นบ้าน หมอนวดและเจ้าหน้าที่องค์กรพัฒนาเอกชน ผลการศึกษาพบว่าความเป็นจริงของการรับรู้โลกาภิวัฒน์และประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนในความเป็นจริงของหมอพื้นบ้านค่อนข้างเหมือนกัน หมอพื้นบ้านและนักพัฒนามองปัญหาได้กว้างและลึกกว่าหมอนวด ภารกิจหลักที่สำคัญสำหรับการเตรียมความพร้อมรับมือกับโลกาภิวัฒน์และประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนก็คือทำให้ชุมชนตระหนักถึงรากเหง้าของตนเองในชุมชนและต้องหันกลับมาสู่ชุมชนภิวัฒน์และการใช้ชีวิตแบบพอเพียง
งานศึกษาครั้งนี้เสนอว่าต้องมีการสืบทอดการแพทย์พื้นบ้านและความรู้จากภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น พัฒนาความรู้จากชุมชน ต้องร่วมกันฟื้นภูมิปัญญาสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่นขึ้นมาและให้มีการบริหารจัดการเพื่อการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างยั่งยืน
