The Study of Antioxidant Activity and the Development of Heel Cream from Ananas Comosus (L.) Merr Core Extract.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the study of antioxidant activity and the development of heel cream from Ananas comosus (L.) Merr core extract.  The research and development: R&D. The biological activities of the 95% ethanolic and water extracts of Ananas comosus (L.) Merr core. These study were in vitro test. The antioxidant activity were evaluated according to 2,4-dipenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Then use the extracts to the development of heel cream. From all above results, 95% ethanolic extracts of Ananas comosus (L.) Merr core the highest antioxidant activity by assay as IC50 968.39 ± 0.06 µg/ml. The researchers worked out  formulas for the cream at different levels of concentrations, and the cream passed physical stability test to select merely the best formula. From all above results, the texture of the cream is smooth and soft. The color of the cream is yellow color of Ananas comosus (L.) Merr core. The smell of Ananas comosus (L.) Merr core, Not bad smell, Has a good cream flow, no microbial or fungal growth, no Creaming and Cracking, pH 5-6 the results of satisfaction test from the 30 volunteers, the volunteers were gratified by the cream.  The gratification for formula shown at high level ( x = 4.36) in terms of product is easy to use, Helps maintain skin´s natural moisture balance, there was no cause of irritation, smoothness, absorption, non-greasiness. From this study, it can be the basic information for further development of cosmeceutical products. And to increase the value of the Ananas comosus (L.) Merr (golden Trat) and use the rest to benefit.
