Abstract
Abstract
This quasi-experimental research study aimed to compare pediatric and adolescent nursing practical knowledge regarding apnea in premature infants among nursing students before and after using virtual reality simulation. A purposive sample of 102 nursing students were recruited. The data collection tool was a 10-item knowledge test developed according to Bloom's Revised Taxonomy framework. The IOC was 0.87 and the reliability was 0.81. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Paired t-test.
The comparison of nursing students' knowledge of child and adolescent nursing practice regarding apnea in premature infants before and after using the virtual simulation situation revealed that factual knowledge increased significantly from 4.68 to 7.64 points, conceptual knowledge increased significantly from 1.40 to 2.70 points, and metacognitive knowledge increased significantly from 0.60 to 1.60 points (p < .001). However, procedural knowledge was not significantly different (p = .081).
