A Report of The Project Development: The Development of Nursing Service System Management in Primary Care Cluster

Abstract

This project aimed to develop the Primary Care Cluster (PCC) nursing service system management and capacity building of the nurses working in PCC.  The project consisted of 2 phases: the development of PCC nursing service system management and the implementation of PCC nursing service system management. A target sample of 442 nurses and 442 families was recruited purposively. The evaluated tools included 1) the nurse’s knowledge test; 2) the nurse’s practice guideline; 3) the nurse’s satisfaction questionnaire; 4) family’s self- management assessment form; and 5) a record of people getting access to the services. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and Paired t – test.


The results in the phase 1 revealed 3 components of PCC: 1) the input: system design, nursing staff, finance and equipment, health information and leadership and good governance; 2) the nursing service provision: in-house service, continuing of care, hand-on community service, networking and engagement, and providing information and advice; 3) outcomes indicated that the goal was achieved, the family could take care of themselves at home including access to the service.  The results in the phase 2 found that knowledge of the nurses was high and they were able to comply with PCC nursing service management system (Mean 4.13,SD  .48) and their satisfaction also was high (Mean 4.12, SD .78).
