Factors Related to Stress among Students Under the Situation of the Covid-19 Outbreak

The purposes of this cross-sectional descriptive research were 1) to investigate the stress level among students and 2) to identify the factors related to stress among students under the situation of the Covid-19 outbreaks. Of these, 501 samples were students who were studying in higher educational institutions in Trang Province, the academic year 2021. The data were collected by using questionnaires thought online system. The questionnaires consisted of demographic characteristics, stress, family relationship, friend relationship and educational environments. The content validity was ranged 0.67-1.00. The Cronbach’s alpha confidents of stress, family relationship, friend relationship and educational environments were 1.00, 1.00, 0.97 and 0.93, respectively. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression analysis. The data were presented using Odds Ratio and 95% confidence interval.
Results found that almost half of the students had stress at a high level (40.12%), followed by low (3.99 percent), moderate (35.73 percent). The average score of stress was 48.08 (SD=16.83) score. It found that factors such as; educational institutes – studying Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus (ORadj = 0.31 95%CI: 0.11-0.88); first year studying (ORadj = 0.34 95%CI: 0.15-0.76); residing in other regions (ORadj = 2.70 95%CI: 1.06-6.87); and insufficient income (ORadj = 1.94 95%CI: 1.31-2.88) were significantly related with among students in Trang Province.
Therefore, educational institutions, families and related persons should consider the measures to manage stress among students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. Especially, students who were residing in other regions, and had insufficient income. In addition, the schedule of consulting should be arranged in order to be given consultation in part time job, scholarship daily living among student closely.
