Abstract
The purpose of this research to develop the education administration model to promote the 21st century skills of nursing students, and to evaluate effectiveness of the education administration model. The research and development study; 1) situation and guidelines analysis for education administration; 2) education administration model development; 3) experiment of the model; and 4) effectiveness evaluation of the model. The populations were 284 nursing students of academic year 2018 in Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chainat. The following instruments were used to collect data: 1) the 21st century skills questionnaire; and 2) the evaluation form of the model effectiveness 3) the satisfaction on using the model. The results of the development found that the model consisted of three aspects. The first, The Orientation Model including: 1) goal of the model to develop the 21st century skills and 2) concept as participative administration and quality cycle. The second, The education administration model, 4S-“PSPS-PRACTICE”, which included 4S as the main structure and PSPS as the sub-stage in each structure.S1: Strategic management, S2: A paradigm shift for 21st century, S3: Learning strategic management which was important; therefore the guideline was developed as “PRACTICE” including: 1) P: Preparation for learning; 2) RA: Relationship skills and Awareness; 3) C: Create of Concepts; 4) TI: Take to Implement; 5) C: Continuous Active Learning; and 6) E: Evaluation, and S4: Learning Society. The third aspect was the model implementation which presented as the strategies development for education administration.
The outcomes of model implementation revealed that as follows:
- The mean scores of overall the 21st century skills before model implementation (Mean=3.50) were significantly higher than after model implementation (Mean=3.83). When considered in each skill of the 21st century skills, it was found that the mean scores of every skill were significantly higher than before the model implementation (p<.05).
- The results of the model effectiveness revealed that overall satisfaction towards model implementation was high mean scores level (Mean=02). The mean scores of satisfaction toward course teaching before model implementation (Mean=4.24) were significantly higher than after model implementation (Mean=4.37). The mean scores of satisfaction toward learning environment before model implementation (Mean=3.19) were significantly higher than after model implementation (Mean=3.57) (p<.05).
