Abstract

ABSTRACT
This one group pre-posttest quasi-experiment research aimed to evaluate
the effects of Web-Based Instruction (WBI) on: 1) ICT skills, 2) Self-Directed Learning Readiness, and 3) Community Diagnosis knowledge. The participants were 106 fourth year nursing students who studied Community Health Nursing II course at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Phayao. The ICT skills, Self-Directed Learning Readiness, and Community Diagnosis knowledge were assessed before and after the course. Students’ satisfaction toward WBI was also measured. Descriptive statistic such as percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to describe demographic data. Dependent t-test was used to compare the ICT skills, Self-Directed Learning Readiness, and Community Diagnosis knowledge before and after the course.
Research revealed that the ICT skills, Self-Directed Learning Readiness, and Community Diagnosis Knowledge were statistically significant increased after the course (p< .05), and students had high satisfaction toward WBI (mean= 4.23, SD=0.43). Students reflected that WBI was interesting as it was modern, fast, and useful. It encouraged them to be a more active learner. However, the barrier were:1) internet system sometimes too slow which obstructed the leaning activities, and 2) computer skill was difference among students.
These findings supported that WBI could enhance life-long learning and ICT literacy which were essential for the life in 21st century.
