Abstract

The competency of learners and the quality of life of students are crucial factors leading to future success. This descriptive research aimed to examine the relationship between personal factors, learner competencies, and the quality of life of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Science at Nakhon Phanom University. Data were collected using a learner competency questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.85 and a quality of life measurement scale adapted from the World Health Organization, with a reliability coefficient of 0.83. Descriptive data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the relationship analysis using the Chi-square correlation coefficient.

The results revealed that the overall learner competencies of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Science at Nakhon Phanom University were at a high level (M=4.27, SD.= 0.65). The overall quality of life was good (M= 104.7, SD.= 12.09). Regarding the environmental quality of life, it was found that 2.00% of students had a low quality of life. Personal factors and student competencies were not significantly associated with quality of life at the 0.05 level of statistical significance. The findings provide useful information for policy development and project planning that align with student needs and support improvements in students’ quality of life. A positive university environment may also strengthen the institution’s image, attract more prospective students, and potentially help reduce student dropout rates.
