The Development of the Learning Resources Model at School by APIDER Model to Encourage for Learner- centered and Life Skills at Wat Don Kai Di Municipality School

Abstract

               This study was a research and development aiming to: 1) analyze fundamental data; 2) develop model; 3) trial the model; and 4) evaluate the effectiveness of the model linking to school learning resources for encouraging learner-centered and life skills of students at Wat Don Kai Di municipality school. Participants were 673 persons selected by cluster random sampling, including school administrators, students, guardians of students and school committees. Data were collected by questionnaires, observation forms, interview guidelines, meeting notes and evaluation forms. Descriptive statistics, covering percentage, mean and standard deviation, were used to analyze quantitative data and content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. The results revealed that:

                 The developed model of school learning resources for encouraging learner-centered and life skills of students at Wat Don Kai Di municipality school, called APIDER model, included 6 components: 1) Assessing needs; 2) Planning; 3) Informing; 4) Doing: 5) Evaluation; and 6) Reporting. The model was evaluated: the effectiveness of the model to promote learner-centered illustrated the mean score as 4.59 (SD=0.20); life skills of the students revealed the mean score as 4.58 (SD=0.21); and satisfaction of using the model showed the mean score as 4.61 (SD=0.32).

                 For further investigation, developing community curriculum for improving internal and external learning resources alongside the operation of action research involving community and educational organization participation should be considered
