The Curriculum Evaluation on Bachelor Degree of Nursing Science Revised Curriculum, 2017 Boramarajonani College of Nursing Buddhachinaraj

Abstract

The aim of this descriptive research was to evaluate the bachelor of nursing curriculum revised curriculum 2017 Boromarajonani College of Nursing Buddhachinaraj. There were 219 participants comprising of 49 nurse lecturers, 15 nurse preceptors, 142 new nurses who graduated in 2020 academic year and 13 nursing administrators. The research tools were the questionnaire related to the evaluation of the bachelor of nursing curriculum revised curriculum 2017 and the semi-structure interview questions. All tools were approved by 3 experts for their content validity which Index of Item Objective Congruence (IOC) was .50-1.00 and the reliability of questionnaire using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was .99. Quantitative data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation and qualitative data were analyzed by using content analysis.  


          The results of this study showed that the opinions of all participants in curriculum context and process were suitable at the highest level ( gif.latex?\bar{X}= 4.64, SD= .37 และ  gif.latex?\bar{X}=4.57, SD= .39 respectively). However, curriculum product and input factors were suitable at a high level ( gif.latex?\bar{X}= 4.36, SD= .42 และ gif.latex?\bar{X}= 4.24, SD= .47 respectively). The results of content analysis regarding to the context found that the content in the curriculum should be updated in accordance with changing disease patterns and healthcare system. For input factors, the factors caused new graduated nurses’ turnover were poor attitude toward nursing profession and inappropriate salary for hard working. In regard of the process, the curriculum management was appropriated. For the curriculum product, nursing students should to practice nursing skills increasingly to enable them to carry out their duties competently in the nursing practice. The research findings are useful for developing nursing curriculum revised curriculum 2022. Moreover, these can be used for promoting teaching activities and learning facilities in order to produce graduate nurses to get nursing competencies related to curriculum objectives and stakeholder needs.
