The Development of Computer Program for Calculating the Nurse Staffing According to Workload in Pediatric Ward of Somdech Phra Pinklao Hospital

Abstract

            The study was a quasi-experimental research. The purposes of this study were: 1) to make a comparison between the Nursing Productivity program on a PC and the Pinklao Staffing Application on a tablet for calculating the nurse staffing according to workload 2) to examine the satisfaction score of Pinklao Staffing Application for calculating the nurse staffing according to workload. Using purposive sampling method, a sample was select from 14 registered nurses. Collected data in the Pediatric Ward at Somdech Phra Pinklao Hospital. The instrument used in the study was the Pinklao Staffing Application on a tablet that the researcher modified from the Staffing Daily Monitoring Template program of Siriraj Hospital were approved for content validity by 3 experts a CVI was 1 and the satisfaction questionnaire after using the program is measured the reliability index with try out for 30 nurses who were same the sample group a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was .70. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics. The results of the study were as follows: 1) the average nursing productivity to use the Nursing Productivity program on a PC equals to 87.00 % means the nursing workforce is appropriate workloads but the average nursing productivity to use Pinklao Staffing Application on a tablet equals to 67.00 % means the nursing workforce is more than workloads which corresponds to the real situation the most. 2) the average total satisfaction score of the Pinklao Staffing Application on calculating the nurse staffing according to workload is 4.52 (SD = .78) means a highest satisfaction.
