A purposive samples of 64 participants were recruited from community. These participants were selected by pair matching which divided into two groups, using matched pairs with age, gender, and level of education, including an experimental and a control group. The experimental group participated in health-promoting behaviors program. The intervention program by using Pender consisted in each week to create of perceived benefits, perceived barriers to action and perceived self-efficacy for dementia prevention. To focus on diverse activities to promote the four behaviors were food consumption, physical activity, cognitive activity and social activities. The duration of intervention program performed 6 weeks and the following 12 weeks. The data collection was conducted by questionnaires for the pre-test, post-test and follow-up 6, 12 week periods. The statistical analysis was performed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test and repeated measure ANOVA.

The mean score of perceived benefits, self-efficacy and behavior to prevent dementia of the experimental group was higher than control group and after program completion was higher than that of before (p < .05), the mean score of perceived barriers of the experimental group was lower than control group and after program completion was lower than that of before (p < .05).

Concluded that the program created by the researcher can promote healthy behaviors in order to prevent dementia to be effective according to the stated objectives. Therefore proposed public health personnel can apply this program to the elderly or similar group and apply to other areas by adapting to the context of each area.
