Development of school network partners model in the implementation of teenage pregnancy Roi ET Municipal School

Abstract

Purposes : This study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) to examine the participatory model of school networks in preventing and addressing adolescent pregnancy in schools under the jurisdiction of Roi Et Municipality, Roi Et Province.

Study design : This research was a participatory action research (PAR).

Materials and Methods : The study involved two sample groups: the first group comprised 30 stakeholders, including the Deputy Mayor of Roi Et Municipality, school directors, school health teachers, sex education teachers, grade-level heads from Grade 4 to Grade 12, public health officers from Roi Et Municipality and Roi Et Hospital, and student representatives. The second group consisted of 80 sixth-grade students from schools within Roi Et Municipality. Data were collected using a questionnaire assessing knowledge of reproductive health and pregnancy prevention, with reliability coefficients of 0.78 (KR-20) and 0.82 (Cronbach’s alpha). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-sample t-tests.

Main findings : The research revealed a developmental process consisting of five steps: (1) situational analysis, (2) action planning, (3) implementation of the plan, (4) evaluation, and (5) summary and lesson learned. The resulting operational plan for preventing and addressing adolescent pregnancy included the following activities: 1) Building familiarity and establishing mutual learning agreements through the "Tumbling Doll" activity. 2) Exploring physical changes in adolescents, adolescent pregnancy scenarios, and understanding the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Problem Solving Act, 2016. 3) Shaping attitudes and values on sexuality and gender through the "Choose Your Side" activity. 4) Providing knowledge on reproductive health and effective contraception. 5) Educating on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) through the "Water Exchange" activity. 6) Promoting behavioral adjustment processes with the "Risk Level QQR" activity. 7) Facilitating positive sexual communication through the "Adolescent Heart-to-Heart" activity. 8) Expanding access to condom services via the "Mor Prom" application. The intervention significantly increased participants’ knowledge of reproductive health and pregnancy prevention (p<.05). Additionally, satisfaction and participation levels were rated as high.

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this research approach highlights the success of a collaborative model involving multiple sectors, It serves as a sustainable framework. that aims to solve the problem of teenage pregnancy. It is recommended to conduct experimental research to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed action plan for preventing and addressing adolescent pregnancy in schools outside the jurisdiction of Roi Et Municipality in the future.
