Effects of Development Promotion and Positive Discipline Building Programs Base on Family Participation on Emotional Quotient and Behaviors of Parents in Chaturaphak Phiman Hospital

Abstract

Purposes : To compare the emotional quotient and behavior of parents in promoting development and positive discipline of children aged 3-5 years in Chaturaphakphiman Hospital.

Study design : Quasi experimental research; One group pretest-posttest group.

Materials and Methods : The sample consisted of 85 pairs of parents and children aged 3-5 years with suspected developmental delays in at least one area. The study was conducted from May-July 2023. Data were collected using assessments and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and paired t-test statistics, statistically significant at 95% confidence level.

Main findings : Total 85 of samples. After the experiment, it was found that children aged 3-5 years had a significantly higher mean overall emotional quotient score than before the experiment (p<.001), with an mean score of more than 1.20 (95% CI;1.14, 1.44). And it was found that after the experiment, parents had an mean score of behavior promoting development and overall positive discipline. Statistically significantly higher than before the experiment (p<.001), with an overall mean score of behavior promoting development and positive discipline greater than 1.19 points (95%CI; 0.96, 1.44).

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this study resulted in better results for children aged 3-5 years. Therefore, this program should be sent to be used in related schools in the future.
