Abstract

This research was quasi-experimental design. The objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of household waste management in Namom district, Songkhla province. The sample groups were recruited household representatives, totaling 70 people that were the experimental group 35 people, and the control group 35 people. Data were collected through a questionnaire and household waste recording form. This study used several activities such as providing waste separation knowledge, a workshop on waste management, a demonstration of waste management that covered 4 categories of waste, and a reward for the household waste management model. Data analysis using descriptive statistics including frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, interquartile range, and inferential statistics, including Paired t-test, Independent t-test, Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed Ranks Test, and Mann Whitney U test.

Results: The results of the research showed household representatives had scores of knowledge about waste separation, waste management, waste management participation and the amount of waste between the experimental and control groups were statistically significant differences (p-value = 0.001). Therefore, the waste management model could reduce the amount of household waste. Furthermore, village leaders should be concerned and participated in the waste management model in order to sustain household waste management.
