Abstract

This research is a Research and Development (R&D) project aimed at developing an assessment model for the 2020 Youth-Friendly Health Services (YFHS) accreditation standard, integrating a mentoring system and empowerment visits, tailored to the context of hospitals in Health Region 7, which comprises Khon Kaen, Roi Et, Kalasin, and Maha Sarakham provinces. The research focused on developing a model for assessing the YFHS standards in accordance with the mentoring and empowerment visits, adapted to the specific context of hospitals in Health Region 7. The research process was divided into four phases: problem identification, preliminary model design, pilot testing, model refinement, and evaluation. The findings indicated that the implementation of the mentoring system and empowerment visits enhanced understanding of YFHS standards, reduced staff anxiety, fostered systemic learning, and enabled service units to effectively self-assess and plan for improvement. Consequently, participating pilot hospitals achieved full YFHS accreditation and received high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. The research results demonstrate that the developed model is appropriate and highly effective. This model is suitable for scaling up and application in other health regions nationwide and can serve as a policy guideline for developing a national YFHS (Youth Health Care System) standard assessment system, in order to create a quality and sustainable adolescent health service system.
