The objectives of this study were to 1) study the health situation and related factors 2) develop and evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion working age and organizational in factory using integrated with participation of network partners. The research methodology used a four-step participatory action research (PAR) approach (PAOR). The sample for the effectiveness evaluation consisted of 172 employees in health-risk groups (e.g., those with a BMI above the standard and at risk of NCDs). Data were collected on health status (waist circumference, body fat percentage, blood sugar level, and blood pressure) and health behaviors before and after a 4 month model trial. Data were analyzed using paired-t-tests.
The results showed that the sample group showed a prevalence of 61.0% for obesity. 90.70% exhibited unhealthy dietary behaviors, specifically consuming sweet, fatty, and salty foods. Insufficient physical activity 72.10% the developed model comprised nine core activities. After the model trial, the at-risk group had significantly lower mean scores for waist circumference, body fat percentage, blood sugar level, and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and improved health behaviors (p<0.05). In particular, the reduction in smoking, alcohol consumption, and consumption of sweet, fatty, and salty foods was significantly increased (p<0.001). Overall satisfaction among network partners was high.
Conclusions and Recommendations: This health promotion model is effective in improving the health status and behaviors of at-risk employees. It should be expanded to other workplaces and individualized care plans should be developed for improved results on body mass index (BMI) and blood lipids.
