Abstract

Health literacy is a cognitive and social skill that enables individuals (woman of reproductive aged) to access and use information to make appropriate health decisions. It is a determinant of health outcomes, both directly and indirectly.This survey has objectives: to assess the current state of health literacy and identify its related factors among reproductive women in Thailand. The methods of this research method:by Cross-sectional analytical study using a three-stage stratified random sampling method. A total of 1,777 subjects were interviewed with a 17-item questionnaire that covered demographic, socioeconomic, and health factors including educations, occupations, sufficiency of income, living areas, ability to read and write, health status, health care service schemes, frequencies of Internet use, and channels of received health information. Results of survey : 83.5% of this sample had adequate health literacy. Factor associations were found among educations, occupations, sufficiency of income, ability to read and write, health status, health care service schemes, frequencies of Internet use, and channels of received health information`related to Health Literacy by reading Different writing was significantly associated with health Literacy (P-value< 0.05) woman of reproductive aged. This research can conclusion: Mostly of reproductive women in this sample had adequate health literacy. When promoting health literacy, one should consider differences. Therefore,to strengthen health literacy skills,various agencies promote reading and searching for information to find answers for oneself form reliable sources, in addition to the agencies that oversee health promotion to create skills. Practices necessary to care for the health of woman of reproductive age must be designed to be specific to the context of the group in order to have desired reproductive health behavior`.
