THE DEVELOPMENT OF IODINE DEFICIENCY CONTROL IN ROYAL PROJECT SCHOOLS, NONG SONG HONG, KHONKAEN PROVINCE
Abstract
This action researchwas aimed to develop and evaluated the outcome of an Iodine deficiency disease control program in Royal Project schools.The sample consisted of 166 people including: public health workers, teachers, students, village health volunteers,community leaders and parents of students with goiter. There are 4 step to the research method.such as; 1) Plan 2) Action 3)Observations4 ) Reflection.The research instruments wereKnowledgeTest, School administrators and teachers Interview form, Observation form and Focus group guidelines for public health workers, teachers and community leaders.Statistics used for data analysis was frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The score was compared with Paired t-test statistics. Quality data was used for content analysis. Interpret summaries as inductive information.
The research results found that:programconsisted of four components: 1)Review of duties of stakeholders2) Personnel competency development, 3) Knowledge of Iodine rehabilitation training, and 4)The practicum of parents and students as iodine deficiency.The result iodine deficiency disease control programshowed that knowledge after entitled the program of students was higher level, scores than before program on with statistical(Mean± SD = 12.81 ± 2.82 VS 10.54 ±2.35 )P value< 0.001,public health workers, teachers and community leadershaveknowledge and being able to perform.6 students as goiter recovered from goiter after they joined in the project form 11 samples (54.55%),
