Factors Related to Sexual Risk Behaviors among Secondary School Students in Rajaprajanugroh 54 School, Mueang Districts, Amnatcharoen Province
Abstract
This study is a cross-sectional analytical study aimed to study Factors related to sexual risk behaviors among secondary school students in Rajaprajanugroh 54 School Mueang Districts, Amnatcharoen Province. Calculation of sample sizes is obtained from the use of survey formulas to estimate the proportion of known population. The total method used is Parel et al. (1973), equal to 169 people by simple random sampling. Data were collected by questionnaires divided into 2 parts which are general information of the sample and factors that are related to sexual risk behaviors with a reliability of 0.82 by analyzing the data with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as chi-square or fisher's exact test.
Results revealed that most of the samples were female (60.9%), aged between 13-14 years old (48.5%). Factors related to sexual risk behaviors among secondary school students were significantly related to sexual risk behavior include latest academic results (p<0.01), perceived risk behavior of peers (p<0.01), access to entertainment venues (p<0.01) and access to sexual stimulation media (p<0.01). Gender, grade level being studied, Income received from parents, residence, marital status of parents, attitudes towards sexual risk behaviors and family relationships are do not correlate with sexual risk behavior. Therefore, families and schools should pay more attention to sexual risk behaviors among students with lower grades.
