Publication Ethics for the Journal of Nursing and Therapeutic Care

The Journal of Nursing and Therapeutic Care has established guidelines on publication ethics, including Author Ethical Responsibilities, Editor Roles and Responsibilities, and Reviewer Roles and Responsibilities. All parties are expected to strictly adhere to these guidelines in a collaborative effort to enhance the quality of the journal, as detailed below.

Author Ethical Responsibilities

  1. Articles submitted for publication must not have been previously published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to other journals.
  2. The content of the article must align with the aims and scope of the journal.
  3. The article must not be plagiarized or copied from the work of other authors.
  4. Authors must properly cite the work of others if it is used in their article, including figures, tables, etc.
  5. Authors must ensure the accuracy of the reference list, both in formatting and content, in accordance with the journal’s guidelines.
  6. Articles must be formatted according to the journal’s template, including font type and size.
  7. All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the article.
  8. Authors must disclose funding sources and/or any potential conflicts of interest within the article and notify the editorial board accordingly.
  9. Authors should not cite references they have not personally read, and citations should be used appropriately and only as necessary.
  10. Acknowledgments to individuals who have contributed to the study should only be included after obtaining their permission.
  11. Authors must not report false or misleading information, including fabrication, falsification, distortion, selective data reporting, or manipulation to support conclusions.
  12. For studies involving human or animal research, where the dignity, rights, safety, or well-being of participants may be affected, authors must attach an ethics approval letter from an institutional review board (IRB) or an equivalent ethics committee. Final publication approval lies with the journal’s editorial board.

Editor Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Editors are responsible for evaluating the quality of submitted manuscripts for publication in the journal under their supervision. They must not accept articles that have been previously published in other journals.
  2. Editors must maintain confidentiality and not disclose information about authors or reviewers to any third parties.
  3. Editors must ensure that research articles considered for publication employ sound research methodologies and present credible results. The decision to publish should be based on the merit of the findings.
  4. Editors must not have any conflicts of interest with the authors or reviewers.
  5. Editors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts undergo rigorous plagiarism checks.
  6. If plagiarism is detected, the editor must suspend the review process and contact the author for clarification, leading to either acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
  7. If it is determined that an article involves unethical plagiarism or data fabrication, and the author refuses to voluntarily withdraw the manuscript, the editor reserves the right to formally retract the article without the author’s consent. This is within the editor’s rights and responsibilities regarding article integrity.

Reviewer Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Reviewers must not disclose any information from the manuscript to unrelated individuals during the review process.
  2. If a reviewer has a conflict of interest with the author(s), they must notify the editor and decline the review assignment.
  3. Reviewers should only accept manuscripts within their area of expertise. If they identify any part of the manuscript that appears to duplicate or overlap with other published work, they must inform the editor.
