Keywords:

Malnutrition is a common issue among patients with chronic kidney disease which can impact their life physically and mentally, as well as their lifestyle. This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to investigate the nutritional status of individuals with chronic kidney disease in stages III to V in Ubon Ratchathani Province. The sample for this study was comprised of 190 patients with stage III-V chronic kidney disease. Participants were selected through multi-stage random sampling. The instruments employed in the study were a general information questionnaire and the Nutrition Triage (NT 2013) assessment. The reliability of the instrument was analyzed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was determined to be 0.71. The statistical methods used for data analysis included descriptive statistics such as frequency distributions, percentages, means, and standard deviations.
The results of the study indicated that a significant number of patients with chronic kidney disease in stages III-V in Ubon Ratchathani Province were malnourished. The overall mean score was at a slight level, with the highest prevalence of slight malnutrition, followed by moderate and severe levels, respectively. The information from this study can be utilized to design appropriate food management and nutritional care interventions and regimens for patients with stage III-V chronic kidney disease which can potentially slow down the deterioration of their kidney function and effectively reduce further complications.
