Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to the health literacy program for pregnant women Huai Thalaeng Hospital Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Don Nutbeam, s health literacy concept was used as a conceptual framework. The samples were divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of 30 participate group was received health promotion program and the control group consisted of 30 non received regular health promotion programs by purposive sampling with voluntary participation. The instrument was health promotion program questionnaire health literacy hematocrit and body mass inde.Frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired samples t-test and independent samples t-test were applied for data analysis.
The results of this study were as follows: 1) After the experiment group, the samples had statistically significant higher mean scores of the comprehensive knowledge, access of information and health services, communication of expertise, media of literacy and health promotion behavior than before the experiment and control group at .01 level. 2) After the experiment group, the samples had hematocrit and body mass index different from that of the control group at .01 level.
Conclusion and recommendations: The health literacy program development potential for pregnant women have health promotion behaviors better than before the experiment and control group. The hospital should apply health literacy programs to development potential for pregnant women on health promotion.
