Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to examine the effects of health program based on Bandura’s theory using gamification on perceived self-efficacy in health care of school-age children with thalassemia.

The sample consisted of 60 school age children with thalassemia, 30 for the control group and other 30 for the experimental group. The control group received routine care, while the experimental group received the health program based on Bandura’s theory using gamification on perceived self-efficacy in health care of school-age children with thalassemia. The perceived self-efficacy in health care of school age-children with thalassemia questionnaire which content validity index 0.94, Cornbrash’s alpha coefficient was 0.86. The data were analyzed using descriptive and repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed that the mean score of perceived self-efficacy in health care of school-age children with thalassemia in the experimental group at the end of the intervention and at 1 week post intervention was significantly higher than that before the intervention and in the control group (p<0.001). Therefore, nurses can use this program to provide advantage for promote perceived self-efficacy in health care of school-age children with thalassemia.
