Abstract

This qualitative research aims to study community profile and community self - management capability of caring for older people. Participants were administered to local government organization, the leader of the local community, social group and community organization, volunteer group and health care staffs. Observation, in-depth interview, focused group discussion, document study and field note taking were a method of collecting data. The triangulation method was applied for data validity. Content analysis, timeline analysis and thematic analysis technique were carried out for data analyzing.

The results revealed that the development timeline of caring for the elder person include community adaptation, behavior transformation and quality of life improvement among older people, and strengthening of aging care by the community. Based upon the community profile, community self-management capability reflected in a variety of dimension. The social dimension presented as work voluntary and fundraising, the economic part revealed threes of community support that are household level, community group and local organization. The environment part can be described as the resource managent and pollution elinimination. The dimension of health care referred to providing care from health care service center and community members. The political care covered providing a community agreement, participation, right, conflict management and communication in the community. The results provided community information for educational course development, work development and integrated for further works. Moreover, the findings nerve an essential data to invent innovative care for elder people.
