Abstract

This research is quasi-experimental. One group tested before and after. The objective of this study was to study the effects of case management program and the participation of village health volunteers in caring for patients with chronic kidney disease. The participants consisted of 72 patients with chronic kidney disease stage 2-4 by using simple random sampling. The research tool was case management program and the participation of village health volunteers consists of providing knowledge and practices the kidney delaying, awareness-raising activities, line application group focusing on participation and setting health goals and home visits follow-up 6 months. The data-collecting instruments were the kidney delaying behavior forms and clinical outcomes. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test.

After the experiment found the participants had mean score for the kidney delaying behavior and glomerular filtration rate higher than before the experiment. The average blood pressure level and HbA1C were significantly lower than before, at the .05 level. However, BMI and waist circumference were not different. Case management and the participation of village health volunteers help the kidney delaying behavior, glomerular filtration rate and blood pressure in patients with kidney disease stage 2-4 improved.
