Drug addiction is a national problem and threat to quality of life of youths. It causes negative impacts to the drug users themselves, their families, society, economic, and nation. The purpose of this study was to determine factors influencing drug preventive behaviors among students in opportunity expansion schools. The samples included 130 students of opportunity expansion schools. Data were collected from March to April 2017. Research instruments consisted of a demographic questionnaire, personal information record, attitude questionnaire, family relationship questionnaire, friend relationship questionnaire, teacher relationship questionnaire, optimism scale, self-concept questionnaire, drug preventive behaviors questionnaire. Cronbach, s alpha reliabilities ranged from .76 - .95 . Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson ,s correlation coefficients, and Stepwise regression analysis.
The findings showed that the sample ,s mean score of drug preventive behaviors was in high level (M= 3.77, SD = .85). The predictable variables included family relationships, self-concept, friend relationships, and GPA (β= .249, .240, .196 and .185, p< .01 respectively). These four significant factors accounted for 40.9% (of the variance in explanation of drug prevention behaviors (R2= .409, Adjust R2= .390, F= 4.94, p< .05).
These findings clearly indicated that self-concept, family relationships, friend relationships, and GPA have influenced on drug preventive behaviors. Nurses, especially mental health and psychiatric nurse, should concern about promoting these factors in order to prevent substance abuse in adolescents.
